In 1948 Latino military veterans in Texas exposed an ugly incident of racial discrimination with the case of Private First Class Felix Longoria. Pvt. Felix Longoria served as an infantryman in the Pacific during World II and was killed in 1945 by an enemy sniper in the waning days of the war in the Philippine Islands.
