RESOLUTIONS PASSED AT THE AMERICAN GI FORUM NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM

  1. Resolution to support  LULAC to upgrade the Distinguished Service Cross Medal to Congressional Medal of Honor to SGT. Willie Estrada who was killed in Korea while engaged in combat against 1,700 enemy forces.

  2. Resolution to support “Veterans for New America” an influential group of veterans representing each of the military branches and veteran service organizations who support a bipartisan solution to immigration for non-citizen military service members and their families.

RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE LEAGUE OF UNITED LATIN AMERICAN CITIZENS RESOLUTION TO AWARD THE CONGRESSIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR TO SGT. WILLIE ESTRADA

WHEREAS:  The American GI Forum, a Hispanic Veterans  Organization, recognizes and advocates U.S. military service, veterans rights, education, civil rights and socio economic equal opportunity,

WHEREAS:  The American GI Forum, hereby, joins in support, and recognizes the bravery of American soldier or soldier’s, and recognizes the resolution to award such recommended medals and awards from other honorable organizations, which requires the endorsement of other organizations such as the American GI Forum,

 

NEW AGENT ORANGE PRESUMPTIONS RESOLUTION

WHEREAS:  it has been well researched by U.S. National Institute of Sciences medical research that America’s Vietnam Veterans who served in the Republic of Vietnam (RVN)have experienced illnesses (i.e. Diabetes mellitus, chloracne, ischemic heart disease ETC)that are so medically and statistically obvious a result of environmental exposures in the RVN and,

WHEREAS:  it took the Department of Veterans Affairs took more than ten years to accept previous medical research findings and recommendations, while it continued counting and comparing Vietnam Veterans who were sick and dying, to their non-Vietnam veteran counterparts, finally accepting the obvious, declaring those same conditions officially “presumptive”/service connected for VA medical care, and

Resolution in Support of the “Veterans for New Americans” 

WHEREAS, the American GI Forum of the United States, at its Annual State Conference held between July20th and 22nd, 2017 in Albuquerque, NM, convened to address issues affecting United States Military Veterans and their families, and;

WHEREAS, Veterans for New Americans, a project of the National Immigration Forum, is a national network of influential veterans representing each of the military branches and veteran service organizations who support a bipartisan solution on immigration that strengthens our national security, enhances our military readiness and supports out non-citizen United States Military Service personnel, their spouses and immediate family both at home and abroad;

 

 

RECOMMEND PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM AWARD TO CARLOS MARTINEZ RESOLUTION

The American GI Forum of the United States, a Hispanic Veterans Organization, founded March 26, 1948 and Federally Chartered by Congress March 26, 1998 is honored to submit this Resolution, requesting that Mr. Carlos Martinez, President and CEO of the American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) be considered as a nominee for the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
